Do you have a pending green card application?

Previous administration ceased the processing of most green card applications, creating a backlog of about 500,000 in February 2021, compared to less than 100,000 in January 2020. However, in early March the Biden administration announced that it is directing U.S. embassies and consulates to prioritize the processing of fiancé and permanent residence visas.

Priority will still be given to spouses, fiancés, and children of U.S. citizens; however, applicants for other family members, such as spouses and siblings of U.S. citizens and permanent residents, will begin to hear back on their applications.

Therefore, those waiting for interviews can expect to see notices being send out in April and May 2021.

Are you waiting to receive your notice and don’t know what to expect due to COVID-19? While most interviews are scheduled to be done in-person, alternative ways are being considered in order to ensure the safety and health of all parties involved.
